Mike Parillo’s new work creates collisions between movement and stasis. The assortment of 20” x 16” panels began as experimentation that soon evolved into a new interpretation of his current body of mixed media paintings. Many of these works incorporate fluorescent paint and glitter with pour techniques. The fluidity of the multi-colored liquid surfaces contrasts geometric and patterned backgrounds, juxtaposing soft and hard visuals. The integration of outside objects in certain works is an expansion of Parillo’s symbolic vocabulary. The title of the exhibition alludes to psychological states, referencing art making as a seductive and dynamic process.
