Mt. Timlin, Alaska 2013

Named by the Higher crew after fallen brother Joe Timlin, Mt. Timlin was Jeremy Jones’ Holy Grail.  A 3900’ peak located deep in the Eastern Alaska Range, it had a ton of unknowns and upon arrival, appeared unrideable.  Within a few days of setting up camp, a major storm hit the film crew mercilessly.  For weeks it was trench warfare, shoveling every four hours just to keep the tents up.  Still, spirits were high. No matter what, this crew knows how to keep it interesting.   Board games played, snow skate shredded, and whiskey drank, they kept busy.  Finally, after many days of this, Jeff Curley woke to the hoots and hollers of his friends. The sun was shining on the most “incredible spine wall we had ever seen.”  The following days held flawless lines, high emotions, and perfect powder.  Riding Mt. Timlin was their way of honoring life and the act of living it.

Jeff Curley

If I had to sum it up, I'd say that photography opened the door to a life I had really never intended on living. Looking at my love of capturing life’s passing moments, I am incredibly thankful for the celluloid and digital opportunities of our age. It has made living this dream a possibility.
