Rider: Alex Lopez
Location: Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Last shot after a long day in the backcountry. The sun was on the snow up higher and it was getting heavy. I shot Alex Lopez doing a few turns, and when he'd finished, I saw all these tiny snowballs rolling down the slope. This can often signal increasing avalanche risk, but I couldn't pass up getting a last shot of this abstract scene.

Born, Motueka New Zealand. Living all of adult life in Switzerland. "I grew up in a tiny beach town, played Rugby and raced moto-x. I dropped out of school at 16 and backpacked around Australia for 2-1/2 years. During this time I got my first camera. Somehow I wrangled a job in a Formula 1 racing team for a year. After that I moved to Switzerland and saw snowboarding for the first time, that was 1997. Since then I've been basically shooting snowboarding. I've been with Volcom for nearly 10 years now, I get to shoot with some of the most talented and interesting creatures. The future is what you make of it."
